Trees Challenge Winners and New Team Mate

Hello everyone!  I have an post to proclaim our winners from the Trees, Trees, Trees challenge and to introduce you to one of our new team mates, Dora.

I used Random.org to find our winner who is non other than #36 Sue from Sue's Craft Card.  Reach out to me Sue with your address and we will send you the Sr. Stampalot stamp.

The top Three are always difficult to choose and this month is no exception. We looked closely at the trees and only considered those that met the challenge rules.

So, here are our top 3 picks for The Trees, Trees, Trees challenge (in no particular order):

#41 - Helen - Helen Quilts

#33 - Shaz in Oz

#13 - Sally H - Crafty Salutations

Even though the DT Call is still running (closes Friday, Oct 5th), I thought I would introduce you to one of our new team mates, Dora.

My name is: Dora Buist- de Vries.  I have been married for 17 years and we have four childeren (a daughter at age of 16  then our second child , a son, is deceased during birth, then a daughter at age of 13 and a  son at age of 10).
We have a farm and  grow  grain, peas, onions and sugar beets. We have a three cats, two rabbits (a blue Flemisch giant, a guinea pig), and a Friesian horse.  So there is lots of life around the farm.  I work in the weekends and evenings at homecare as a nurse.

I have been making cards for a long time, starting with 3D cards and few years ago I learned about stamps and colouring with derwent colour pencils. I have always liked to draw along with the children, or helping with decorating the school windows or decors.  A few years ago I also started to combine stamps with my own drawings and it is so much fun to do.  It is amazing that I am now joining the team of Craft a Scene. I loved making scenes for this challenge blog.  It is always a challenge to make a card that fits into the challenge and then to try and  colour it in.....its so much fun! I love to see what scenes others make with their own stamps and colouring materials.

I will be back next Sunday to announce the new team and the theme for October along with some incredible creations from the design team.

Trees Challenge eMail Entries

One of our regular challenge players is Margaret from Huddersfield in Yorkshire England.  She sent me two cards for our Trees challenge.

I stamped the images for the Lady in the Park on to white card using Adirondack Pitch Black.  The Trees , Lamp Post and Lady are from Clarity Stamps, and the Fence is from Tanda stamps.

I coloured the background using Grey, Black and a touch of Purple crayons.  The lady was created using archival ink on the stamp and a sandwich of Fantasy Film and Angelina Fibres placed over the stamp and fused together using a craft iron (This is a Clarity Stamp technique, not sure if it would work with any make of stamp)  This gives a multi coloured shimmer effect, which may not show up very well on the printed image, but is very effective on the card.  The lady was then cut out and attached to the card with three dimensional foam pads.  I used  3D Clear Gloss Finish on the window of the Lamp to give the effect of glass.

The second card was created using mainly Hobby Art stamps along with the Split Tree from Clarity, which comes in two halves and can be used separately, as in the side trees or melded together to make a larger tree as the one in the centre of the card.  I used water colour paints to complete the scene.

There are still a few days left to enter your cards in the challenge.  Your projects must have at least three trees on it.

You may enter up to 3 times and as many challenges as you wish.  If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture like Margaret did and I will add it to one of our posts.

Don't forget to add GDT to your link if you wish to be considered for a guest spot.  Click here to enter the challenge.

Have fun creating!

Trees, Trees, Trees and a DT Call

Today with have more inspiration for you for the Trees, Trees, Trees challenge and it is time for another design team call.

For us at Craft a Scene it is all about making our project into a scene.  I often start with a single image and build it into a scene by adding something in the background. Sometimes I set out to make a specific scene like something with mountains or trees.  It is always fun to expand my learning and make different types of cards.

Our design team members must enjoy making scenes with a variety of stamps and digis and have their own blog.  Occasionally we receive stamps or digis to work with or a certificate for purchasing a sponsors products as a thank you. You don't have to have a lot of experience making scenes or with blogging.  We are looking for all levels of the craft.

The DT makes two projects per month and comments on a selection of entries.  It is that simple!  We have a DT only blog where we chat back and forth and post our projects by the due date.

If you are interested in being a part of this creative team please email me with your blog name and the team will have a look. Please apply before September 30th.  The new design time will be announced with the following Sunday challenge.

Now on to our inspiration for this week.  We have another guest designer this week with her own special Trees creation.

Rene - Simply Cute

My name is Rene Bowen and I've been making cards for about seven years now.  I've been married to my college sweetheart for 11 years and we have two insanely energetic girls, Grace and Isabel.  I've always loved to create and through stamping and coloring, I'm actually able to pretend that I'm an artist!  With both girls in school for the first time, I'm finding lots of time to create!  My blog is Simply Cute (http://cardsbyrbowen.blogspot.com).

Anna-Karin - Layers of Ink

"I did an autumn scene with lots of different trees standing in a hilly landscape. All the trees were inked and stamped with Distress Markers, to get a lot of variation in colour. The sentiment I used is a favorite of mine, and so true."

Our wonderful sponsor this month, Sr. Stampalot has provided a stamp for the random winner.

The design team and I are looking forward to seeing your wonderful scenic creations.  Please enter your stamped or digi scenes that are finished projects (no ATC's or unmounted work).

You may enter up to 3 times and as many other challenges as you wish.  If you do not have a blog or account on Split Coast Stampers, then just email me a picture of the piece and I will add it to one of our posts.  Enter the challenge here!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!!

September Theme - Trees, Trees, Trees

Our theme this month is Trees, Trees, Trees.  So what does that mean, you ask?  Well, we expect to see at least three trees stamped on your finished project.

Here is an example of the kind of project we are looking for on this challenge site.  We want to see a scene of course, but what is a qualifying scene?  Your entry should have a stamped or digi image in the background and another in the foreground.

So, let's have a look at what the design team came up with for this challenge.  Look closely at how they construct their scenes with background and foreground images stamped or digi'd.

Anna-Karin - Layers of Ink

Anja - Stamping Anja

Nadia - Scrap Affair

Brenda - Floral Fantasies

Nancy - Crafting Passions

The Great Outdoors Winner and Top 3

Our theme this month has been the Great Outdoors and we had some amazing entries!  Our sponsor Nadia from Scrap Affair has a very nice certificate waiting for the Random Winner.

I used Random.org to find our winner who is non other than #10 Karen from Have a Scrap Happy Day.  Reach out to me Karen and I will send you the certificate number and link to Scrap Affair.

Our top Three this month were very difficult to choose.  We have our regulars who love to play every month and they are excellent scene makers.  We always have wonderful new entries as well.  Some of you are paying attention to the rules and some are not.  Only entries that follow the rules are considered for the top 3 slots (just like other challenge blogs).

So, here are our top 3 picks for The Great Outdoors challenge (in no particular order):

#18 Claire - Claire's Crafty Creations

#50 Sue - Sue's Crafty Corner

Now, I know this is a bit unorthodox, but I have to give a special mention to Dora who has plays with us almost every month and has also been a guest designer.  She drew one of her entries!  Check it out, #35.

I will be back Sunday with our next theme.  Have a great day!
